Which mahjong tiles can I actually select?
Only free tiles can be matched. Following standard mahjong solitaire rules, a tile is free when nothing is stacked on top of it and at least one of its left or right edges is open. Tiles wedged between two neighbours on both sides are locked until you clear one of them, which is why the order you remove pairs matters more than the pairs themselves.
What do I do when no matching tiles are left?
Use the shuffle tool — it rearranges the remaining tiles so new pairs become reachable, rather than forcing you to restart the board. Undo is also available if you would rather step back and unpick the move that closed the board off.
